Surgical sites range from the hindfoot to the little toe – a real challenge for any instrumentarium due to the multitude of different anatomical requirements involved. While isolated small-toe operations may be possible with basic hand-surgical instrument sets, the situation is completely different for tarsal and hindfoot operations. Here, the surgeon needs systems specifically adapted to the dimensions and functional requirements (stability) of the bony skeleton of the foot.
Surgical bone corrections on the foot require three-dimensional planning for forefoot as well as tarsal operations, plus implants that guarantee a stable fixation of the result of the correction. The previously used Kirschner wires (K-wires) and bone clamps cannot meet these requirements. Our new implants, in contrast, enable high compression – and thus immediate exercise-stable fixation of osteotomies and arthrodeses. Therefore, extended immobilization over several weeks (using closed plaster bandages) is usually no longer necessary.
All implants and instruments are color-coded for easy handling and classification.
