The company history begins as far back as 1896 when Ludwig Leibinger, a former clockmaker, decided to start manufacturing surgical instruments. One and a half decades later, in 1912, he was able to hand over a flourishing business to his son Karl. As part of the Gebrüder Martin sales and marketing organization, Karl Leibinger opened up a world market for his products in 1923.
To date, the company has remained a family business: in 1957, the founder’s grandson took over, and since 1974 the great-grandson Karl Leibinger has been in charge of this trail-blazing high-tech undertaking with its 335 employees. Its product specialists and development engineers work closely with leading medical specialists – a policy that virtually guarantees continuous improvement and a highly competitive product range.
