Sterilization containers

Our quick check

Use this quick check every time before using a microStop® sterilization container. To help you stay safe. For years to come.

microStop®. Was safe. Is safe. Will stay safe.

The microStop® microbe barrier.
The perfect protection.

The microbe barrier of our modern sterilization container system

consists of the green microStop® disc and the part

system attached to the inside of the lid, which is easily locked

with the aid of the bayonet closure.

You should take a closer look:

The operating principle is simple: The special shape and the resulting differences in flow velocities inside the system separate air flow and microorganisms. The calculations of the Fraunhofer Institute show that microbes are unable to pass through the barrier. The filtered air flows into the interior of the container, and the microorganisms remain in the low-flow areas of the labyrinth.

It is therefore crucial that the microStop® microbeial barrier is free of visible damage or cracks/tears.

For this reason, always check the microStop® microbe disc before every use for cracks/tears and damage, and replace it if necessary.

Durable and tough.
The microStop® container lid.

microStop® washers and lids are manufactured from heat-resistant,

steam-sterilizable high-performance plastic. The material is scratch-resistant, impact-resistant, highly resistant to chemicals and retains its shape. It cannot be permanently deformed.

microStop® sterilization containers can withstand a great deal, but they are not indestructible.

Even if the microStop® sterilization containers are durable and tough, they are not indestructible and can be damaged in a hectic hospital working environment. Particularly if the aluminum edge of the container is deformed after a drop it will no longer be possible to create a proper seal between the lid and the top of the edge. As a result it is no longer leak-tight and microbes can penetrate inside. For this reason it is important that you also carefully inspect the lid and check it visually for cracks/tears and breaks.

A special feature of the silicone gasket is that it is not foamed or glued into the container lid, but that it can instead be taken out for regular inspections. If the gasket is damaged it can easily be replaced itself. The gasket is capable of withstanding even severe knocks and is perfectly seated on the strongly outwardly-curved bottom edge.

Check the lid and gasket prior to every use to make sure they are perfectly seated and replace defective parts as required.

A recent study from the CSSD department of the Basel University Hospital confirms the long-term safety of sterilization containers.

In this recent study from March 2015, Jörg Schnurbusch, the Head of the CSSD department of the Basel University Hospital, confirms the long-term safety through visual inspection of sterilization containers.

His conclusion:

"The positive outcome of the shortened long-term storage test in a heavily contaminated environment shows that the randomly selected containers with a length of use between 5 and 8 years still represent an effective packaging system in order to preserve sterility, and that no bacteriological disruptions have occurred inside the container."
