At the first international congress of hospital architecture (Primer Congreso internacional de arquitectura e ingeneria hospitalaria) in Lima, Peru, Markus Unger, our Head of Product Management for individual OR solutions, spoke to over 200 Architects and Project Managers about the future of modular technology in hospital construction, our individual OR solutions and the challenges in project business.
Under the motto "It‘s time to create solutions that enhance your work of today and tomorrow", the Association of Peruvian Architects and Engineers (ASPAIH) is with this congress preparing for the rapid technological change in the hospital environment and its effects on hospital construction.
In addition to classic requirements for the planning of ORs, intensive care units or RUMED, such as the fulfilment of hygiene standards, functionality and efficiency, the flexible and rapid expandability is due to shorter technology life cycles gaining in importance. Consequently, rooms with a high technology density must be configured in such a way that they can be easily and cost-effectively adapted to rapidly changing trends in order to guarantee long-term planning security.
Modular solutions provide a remedy for this challenge. By using individual solutions, all aspects of complex planning and medical technology can be precisely considered. Our modular solutions consist of a substructure, wall and ceiling elements, doors and the integration of optional fixtures. Individual elements can simply be removed and replaced by new ones during a conversion or extension. This does not require any comprehensive structural measures, such as the removal of solid walls. These changes can be implemented in a short time and this way, the sensitive hospital area can be used again as quickly as possible and the costs for a long-term closure of the area can be avoided. Thanks to the installation times reduced to a minimum and the possibility of implementing renovation projects in phases, modular systems amortize themselves more quickly, even in comparison with conventional construction methods.
The challenge in long-term project business is to achieve several goals simultaneously. These include the satisfaction of all parties involved, adherence to costs and deadlines as well as an optimal result in terms of quality and function. This challenge requires defined and transparent project management.
In modular OR projects, we support our customers every step of the way. From planning to implementation. In personal discussions, we analyze their working methods and needs in order to translate them into a technical concept that is optimally tailored to them. This process is supported by modern VR technology and 3D visualization. We rely on a lean and efficient project management process and a common understanding during the planning phase.
Upcoming presentations in Latin America
Carlos Nawrath, Area Manager Latin America, will speak at the annual congress of architects in Colombia on the subject of OR lighting technology. We would be pleased to welcome you there.
