SonicWeld Rx® Dental

With SonicWeld Rx® we have developed a revolutionary system for craniomaxillofacial osteosynthesis. Consistent advancement of the system resulted in interdisciplinary expansion of the application field. As a consequence, the field of dental and oral surgery benefits from the most advanced procedure in augmentation: SonicWeld Rx® Dental.

 

The system combines state-of-the-art ultrasonic technology with resorbable implants and thus creates so far unsurpassed three-dimensional primary stability. As all implant components are based on resorbable materials, a second procedure is not necessary - a significant advantage, particularly for patients.

The polymers

Two resorbable polymers for osteosynthesis, PDLLA and PLLA-PGA, have been well-established in craniomaxillofacial surgery:

  • Resorb x polymer is a 100% Poly-D,L-Lactic Acid (PDLLA).
  • Resorb xG polymer consists of 85% Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) and 15% Poly Glycolic Acid (PGA).
     

Both resorbables maintain the majority of their strength for 8-10 weeks, allowing complete fracture healing and bone regeneration.

The core of the degradation process: The complex polymer chains absorb the water contents (H2O molecules) of surrounding body fluids through a process called “hydrolysis”. The stored water initiates the degradation process by continuously breaking down the long polymer chains into ever shorter structures or simpler molecules. Metabolic pathways subsequently transform the molecules into carbon dioxide and water; both of these compounds are discharged naturally.

Indications:

Features:

SonicPin

Micro SonicPins

Reliable welding of resorbable SonicPins under the ultrasonic impulses of the SonicWeld Rx® system works. That is beyond question today! But does the sheer mass of the pin head not interfere with the highly sensitive augmentation region? If the pin head of a SonicPin is deemed to be too massive, then we recommend the Micro SonicPin: This offers minimal thickness, yet still provides a sufficient basis for the reliable anchorage of resorbable foils and membranes.

Indications:
