Recos Ulna Shortening and Radius Reconstruction System

In some cases malunions can occur following distal forearm fracture treatments. This can lead to reduced strength, pain, and decreased mobility. Similar limitations can be seen in congenital malposition cases.

Radius reconstruction and ulna shortening can be achieved with the aid of plate osteosynthesis.

With Recos, we have succeeded in uniting these two corrective osteotomies in a single system. The plates are fixed using our proven smartDrive screws and require minimal instrumentation.

Radius reconstruction

The design of the Recos radius reconstruction plates was developed to support the anatomical correction of the distal radius. The watershed line design of the plate allows for precise distal implantation, while pre-aligned screw positions support anatomical correction and fixation. Pre-assembled drill sleeves facilitate easy handling.

For complex reconstructions, our patient specific implants are available.

Ulna shortening

The Recos ulna shortening system is user friendly. Recos and Ixos instruments and screws can be used.

Ulna shortening plates include pre-assembled drill sleeves that facilitate stable fixation of the plate on the bone. The bridge plate has a recessed area where the osteotomy will be made, ensuring ease of use and patient safety.

Our smartDrive screw portfolio consists of standard and locking screws, and are compatible with all Recos plates. The screws are designed with an atraumatic screw tip and a self-retaining T-drive function.

Our instruments are color coded to increase ease of use.

Areas of treatment

The Recos System is indicated for use in

  • forearm fractures

  • osteotomies

The Recos System is intended for adults, as well as adolescents (12-21 years) and children (2-12 years) in which growth plates have fused or in which growth plates will not be crossed by fixation.
