The KLS Martin Group celebrates the successful completion and opening of its new facility in Sydney, Australia. Alongside Jacksonville, Florida, this is the second production facility outside of Germany that specializes in the manufacturing of custom-made implants.
With an investment of around EUR 5 million, the existing office buildings were comprehensively refurbished and expanded to include a state-of-the-art production area. After a 13-month renovation phase, the entire team moved into the redesigned office area in the spring of this year. Located in the same building as the new production site, the office spans over 500 m², accommodating more than 20 employees. The open layout and modern design foster a collaborative and creative work environment.
The new production area of 1,300 m² is equipped with state-of-the-art additive manufacturing technology and enables the production of custom-made implants, known as IPS® implants, directly on site. IPS® stands for Individual Patient Solution and offers coordinated solutions for computer-based planning of surgical procedures, efficient design of customized treatment concepts, and their implementation in the operating room through functionalized implants and planning aids. In this way, the KLS Martin Group is not only creating additional new capacities, but also numerous new jobs in the region in the long term.
Christian Leibinger, Managing Director of the KLS Martin Group, personally attended the opening ceremony. Together with Christian Markgraf (Vice President, Chief Operating Officer), and Frank Reinauer, (Senior Director Division Implants), he symbolically cut the ribbon – accompanied by employees and partners.
The Australian subsidiary was founded in 2014, initially focusing on marketing and sales. Since 2019, custom-made implants have been planned locally, but production remained in Muehlheim, Germany. The new IPS® production facility offers even more capacity for the KLS Martin Group and operates under the name KLS Martin IPS Service Australia Pty. Ltd. With the new production of custom-made implants on site, the company group is now taking a significant step towards local production and shorter delivery times.
"We're proud to open the new production site for our custom-made implants in Australia," explains Christian Leibinger. "We see great potential in the Australian market and are pleased to shorten delivery times for our implant solutions through local manufacturing."
The opening marks another milestone in the international growth strategy of the KLS Martin Group, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, quality, and customer proximity. The company looks to the future with confidence and enthusiasm.
