The new maXium® smart Q and maXium® smart E expand the smartLine product family with powerful new generators, providing the ideal solution for every requirement. These high-end systems deliver a wide selection of precisely controlled energy currents for a broad range of surgical applications.
Three high-end units have been added to the smartLine family. The maXium® smart Q, offers two monopolar and two bipolar working channels. The maXium® smart E is available in two versions (MMB and MBB) and features a total of three working channels. A maXium® smart E unit offers up to two monopolar or two bipolar sockets. The three unit variants differ only in the number of sockets.
The maXium® smart Q and maXium® smart E combine userfriendliness, efficiency, and performance, ensuring optimal results through state-of-the-art sealing technology. Together with the KLS Martin SealSafe® IQ instruments, the units form a bipolar sealing system that transforms the body's own structural proteins, such as collagen and elastin, in such a manner that veins, arteries, and tissue bundles are permanently and securely sealed.
The Polyp, Papilla, and Mucosect current modes, which were developed specifically for gastroenterological applications, offer maximum precision and safety during endoscopic procedures. All three operate in pulses, enabling a controlled release of energy that is gentle on the tissue.
The duration and interval parameters can be set individually for all three current modes: A prolonged duration results in stronger and faster cuts. The interval controls the rhythm of energy output and influences the cutting frequency. This combination of pulsed current delivery and individually adjustable parameters enables safe, effective, and indication-specific application.
Current type: With the proven, clearly arranged icons, making selections is quick and easy.
Output power adjustment: With the slider and/or the +/- buttons the output power adjustment is quick and easy to perform, even in 1 W steps.
Effect adjustment: The desired effect can be configured individually. Here, the unit automatically ensures an optimal result: If the selected combination of effect and power falls into an illogical range, the power is intelligently corrected.
Trigger function: The activated trigger function ensures that the current flows continuously until sealing is completed, without needing to keep the activation button pressed throughout the entire sealing process.
Activation: Easy assignment of activation – whether via a foot switch or an auto-start function.
Our solution offers maximum adaptability through optional software modules which can be enabled depending on the specific medical discipline, area of application, or individual requirements. This way, you obtain exactly the functionalities you require − without unnecessary complexity. Latest bipolar sealing technology.
Building on the proven technology of its predecessor, the maXium®, SealSafe® IQ features the latest generation of bipolar vessel sealing technology. The optimized sealing process offers significant benefits for both the procedure and the patient. Innovative functions such as Bipolate and Trigger enable fast, ergonomic handling. Together with our reusable vessel sealing instruments, SealSafe® IQ provides reliable, efficient, and sustainable vessel sealing.
The Mucosect, Papilla, and Polyp currents are specifically developed, application-specific current types for polypectomy, papillotomy, and endoscopic mucosal resection. These pulsating mixed current modes automatically alternate intermittently between cutting and coagulation to enable precise, effective, and gentle tissue removal.
In contrast to classic monopolar resection, which requires the use of a non-conductive irrigation fluid, bipolar resection uses only electrically conductive saline solution (NaCl) as the irrigation medium. This particularly reduces the risk of a TUR syndrome. The
specifically developed current forms enable precise cutting and coagulation of excess tissue and allow the use of large resection loops for faster work.
Neptun is a bipolar current type for coagulation with liquid support (EHT method = electrohydrothermosation), which is chiefly used in parenchymal surgery (liver, spleen, kidney) with irrigated forceps. The EHT method is characterized by a homogeneous, conservative coagulation effect and rapid procedure.
With the Duo currents, both monopolar outputs can be used simultaneously and, if necessary, in two different surgical fields in
parallel. One example of its use in cardiac surgery is the dissection of the great saphenous vein and the small saphenous vein with minimal coagulation and simultaneous dissection of the mammary vein.
Easy switching between up to five predefined programs from the sterile area. With the SWAP® mode, a program change can be performed from the sterile area using a footswitch or handle, allowing the cutting or coagulation performance to be adapted to the respective surgical situation. No support is required from the non-sterile area.
On the one hand, this option allows two separate double-pedal footswitches to be used in two different locations in the operating room, thereby increasing flexibility. On the other hand, it can be used for robotic applications.
The maXium® smart Q and maXium® smart E HF generators offer 20 current types in the basic configuration for a broad spectrum of surgical applications. By purchasing additional options, up to 12 more current types can be added. This allows the system to be flexibly adapted to different operating room requirements and enables precise selection for a wide range of procedures.

For use with these generators, only special dual‑pedal footswitches are available: one with a SWAP® function and one without. A new single‑pedal footswitch is not required. The existing model remains fully compatible and can continue to be used without restriction.
