Ixos®

The most frequent fractures encountered in surgical practice are radius fractures. Based on an extensive body of clinical experience and utilizing new technical possibilities afforded by the ever-advancing technical progress, multidirectional locking radius plates are frequently used nowadays for treating such conditions.

Based on the principle of multidirectional locking plate osteosynthesis, our goal was to treat nearly all types of distal radius fractures with an easy-to-use and clearly structured system.

In fact, Ixos® comes as a comprehensive and user-friendly radius plating sytem including palmar, dorsal as well as lateral plates. All plates are implanted with state-of-the-art smartDrive® screws. No more than four instruments are required for secure osteosynthesis.

Ixos® radius plates are available in different designs to match proved treatment concepts. All plates are finished with the Dotize® surface treatment to enable maximum stability with the smallest possible plate geometry.

The anatomical plate geometries make bending of the plates obsolete. The rounded atraumatic plate contour enables the best possible embedding in the soft tissue and prevents soft tissue irritation.

With our smartDrive® screws, standard and angle-stable screws are available. All plates can be fitted with both screw types - completely individually according to the fracture to be treated. In addition, all screws have an atraumatic screw tip and are equipped with a self-retaining function with the T-drive, that has proven itself for decades.

We have made it our objective to design instruments that are easy and efficient to handle. The colour coding according to the respective screw diameter enables a clear and unambiguous assignment of the instruments.

Our stainless steel storage systems in honeycomb design are optimized for reprocessing and allow high stability with low weight. For easy and efficient instrumentation, the instruments are arranged in the storage according to the operating procedure.

Area of application

The Ixos® Radius Plate System is mainly used for the fixation of intra- and extra-articular acute fractures of the distal radius, in particular:

  • Type A2 Colles fractures
  • Type A3 fractures
  • Type B1 fractures
  • Type B2 Barton fractures
  • Type B3 Smith or reversed Barton fractures
  • Type C1 fractures
  • Type C2 fractures
  • Type C3 fractures
  • Osteotomies of the distal radius
